Los Angeles, CA

I’m leaving for Honduras in two week to be a Municipal Development Advisor with the Peace Corps.  I am nervous, excited, anxious, scared, and curious to know what the future will be like.

I have been living in Los Angeles with my boyfriend since January.  We lived together last summer as well, and stuck together while I finish my last semester at PSU.  It is bitter bittersweet to be leaving, but I am extremely excited to jump into my work with Peace Corps.

I leave Los Angeles in three days, I’ll be in Pennsylvania visiting my friends and family for twelve days, and then I leave for staging.  Staging is going to be taking place in Houston, TX.  It will only last one day.  I won’t be getting immunizations at staging, but I’ll recieve them once in Honduras.  Staging will be a brief introduction to the Peace Corps, will cover what I should expect and what should be expected, and I will get to meet the other volunteers.  There are 57 volunteers going to Honduras with me.  I’m very excited to meet like-minded people.  Friends are so hard to find, and I expect I’ll meet some good people.
